Following her resignation, the Clerk of Parliament said that its Committee of Privileges will continue to look into the complaint against Raeesah Khan for lying in Parliament.
Committee of Privileges will continue probing
In a statement on Dec. 1, the clerk added:
"The Parliament (Privileges, Immunities and Powers) Act regulates the conduct of Members of Parliament and other persons in connection with its proceedings, and can summon any person to appear before the Committee to give evidence at any time before the conclusion of its Report."
The committee will present its report to Parliament "in due course".
Resigned from Worker's Party
On Tuesday (Nov. 30) night, the Worker's Party announced that Raeesah had resigned from the party.
The Parliament of Singapore confirmed that Raeesah had sent a resignation later to Speaker of Parliament Tan Chuan-Jin at 10:47pm that day.
WP also said that a press conference will be held on Thursday (Dec. 2) for the party to provide more information on this matter.
