When vaccination-differentiated measures were first announced back in July, some F&B outlets' staff fretted over the potential extra workload that would arise from needing to check their customers' vaccination statuses before allowing groups of up to five to dine in.
These concerns were soon put to rest when dining in became forbidden altogether under the tightened restrictions of Phase 2 (Heightened Alert), announced just days later.
However, F&B outlets, along with other businesses, will soon be faced with the question of how to check individuals' vaccination statuses once again.
From Aug. 10, fully-vaccinated groups of up to five will be allowed to dine in, and to visit gyms and fitness studios with higher capacity limits.
Prove vaccination status just by tapping TraceTogether app or token
A newly-published guide on the SafeEntry website (www.safeentry.gov.sg) allows businesses to configure SafeEntry such that staff will be able to check their visitors' vaccination statuses more easily.
Once the business has completed the configuration, visitors just need to tap their TraceTogether (TT) app or token on a device running in SafeEntry Gateway mode to prove their vaccination statuses.
The check-in process also works if the visitor gets their TT token's QR code scanned.
The diagram below shows how the check-in entry is recorded or denied.
The guide highlights, however, that this configuration should only be done by venues where such checks are necessary to implement vaccination-differentiated safe management measures.
Detailed instructions for those who need to perform checks on vaccination status can be found in the SafeEntry guide.
Who is considered "fully-vaccinated"?
Individuals are considered fully-vaccinated if they meet any of the following conditions:
- Received the full regimen of the Pfizer-BioNTech/Comirnaty and Moderna vaccines, or any of the World Health Organisation’s Emergency Use Listing (WHO EUL) vaccines, such as Sinovac-CoronaVac, Sinopharm, and AstraZeneca, with an additional two weeks for the vaccine to be fully-effective.
- Recovered from Covid-19.
- Obtained a negative result from PET, with the test being taken in the past 24 hours before the expected end of the event.
