The Singapore government expects to allow groups of five people to dine together from July 12 onwards.
Finance Minister Lawrence Wong, who also serves as the co-chair of the Multi-Ministry Task Force on the Covid-19 response, said this in Parliament on July 5.
Ministerial statement
During his Ministerial Statement on financial support measures for businesses and workers during recent restrictions, Wong spoke of the measures to curb the spread of the virus when Singapore moved into Phase 2 (Heightened Alert) on May 16.
These included restricting all dining-in at food and beverage outlets, shutting down gyms and also live arts performances.
However, from June 21, the government eased the restrictions and allowed groups of two people to dine-in.
Wong said:
"That's why we started to ease the restrictions from June 14, when we moved from Phase 2 to Phase 3 (Heightened Alert); and we expect to open up further from July 12 to allow larger groups of five people to dine together."
This is presumably contingent on the number of locally-transmitted Covid-19 cases in Singapore remaining low.
Previously on May 4, the government announced a reduction in the size of dining-in groups from eight to five, starting from May 8.
