Screen grabs and snippets showing former People's Action Party's candidate Ivan Lim in the Jurong GRC's Facebook Live video have caused some buzz post-election.

Many were baffled by Lim's presence as he was dropped out of the race after facing public backlash for allegations about his past behaviour towards subordinates.

This is Lim's first on-screen appearance since the fiasco broke out in June.

Previously, a few PAP leaders, including Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and Deputy Prime Minister Heng Swee Keat said that investigations looking at accusations levelled at Lim will be carried out after the election.

Tharman wanted to acknowledge Lim's contribution in the early days

Senior Minister Tharman Shanmugaratnam who leads the Jurong GRC team, came forward to explain why Lim was included in the video even though he is not one of the Jurong GRC elected candidates.

Tharman wrote in a comment in response to a July 8 Facebook post that Lim had been working very hard on the ground when he was a prospective candidate, and so, he wanted to acknowledge Lim's contribution and give him a chance to thank residents.

Tharman explained that he made this choice as he felt that it was the right thing to do and sought people's understanding on his decision.

Lim not part of thank you tour in Jurong

Recent photos also showed that Lim was not part of the tour to thank residents for their support.

The MPs-elect for Jurong GRC who went around thanking residents over the weekend include Tharman, Tan Wu Meng, Rahayu Mahzam, Shawn Huang, and Xie Yao Quan (who replaced Lim after before Nomination Day).

Tharman also said in a "Thank you, Jurong!" video that the team will like to build a caring community where "young children grow up with the best chances in life" and seniors who need additional help will be looked after.

He said in the video that the team of five will "repay more than [the people's] trust" and work harder to serve residents in Jurong GRC moving forward.Top image via Jurong GRC/Facebook
