Black Tap at MBS identified as new Covid-19 cluster after links found between 8 cases

Black Tap is currently closed for the duration of the circuit breaker period from Apr. 7 to May 4.

On Apr. 12, 233 new cases of Covid-19 infection were announced by the Ministry of Health (MOH). There were seven new clusters, including one at Black Tap, a restaurant in The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands.

Eight cases are linked to the new cluster at Black Tap. They are Cases 879, 1010, 1235, 1397, 1402, 1561, 1612 and 1618.

These eight cases were confirmed to have Covid-19 infection between Mar. 30 and Apr. 8, and are between the ages of 26 and 65.

Before Covid-19, the restaurant was a popular option at MBS, often drawing crowds.

Details of cases

  • Case 879 is a 26-year old male Singapore Citizen with travel history to Malaysia. He was confirmed to have Covid-19 on Mar. 30.
  • Case 1010 is a 27-year old female Singapore Citizen. She was confirmed to have Covid-19 on Apr. 1.
  • Case 1235 is a 26-year old male Philippine national who is a Long Term Pass holder. He was confirmed to have Covid-19 on Apr. 5.
  • Case 1397 is a 37-year old male Singapore Citizen. He was confirmed to have Covid-19 on Apr. 7.

Family members and their contact

Cases 1402, 1561, and 1612, are family members, who are all contacts of Case 1618.

  • Case 1402 is a 62-year old female Singapore Citizen. She was confirmed to have Covid-19 on Apr. 7.
  • Case 1561 is a 29-year old female Singapore Citizen. She was confirmed to have Covid-19 on Apr. 7.
  • Case 1612 is a 65-year old male Singapore Citizen. He was confirmed to have Covid-19 on Apr. 8.
  • Case 1618 is a 36-year old female Indonesian national who is a Long Term Pass holder, and a contact of Cases 1402, 1561 and 1612. She was confirmed to have Covid-19 on Apr. 8.

Black Tap currently closed

Black Tap is currently closed for the duration of the circuit breaker period from Apr. 7 to May 4, according to an announcement on its Facebook page.

It said that this was in line with the suspension of all Integrated Resort services and operations, which was announced on Apr. 3.
