It was reported that Singapore has been designated as a high-risk area for Covid-19 by Thailand’s Public Health Ministry on Mar. 3.

In a ministerial announcement by the health ministry, a total of nine countries and two territories have been categorised as high-risk zones for Covid-19.

These nine countries are Singapore, Japan, South Korea, Germany, China, Taiwan, France, Italy and Iran, while the two territories are Macau and Hong Kong.

The Thai Public Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul posted the announcement on his Facebook page on Mar. 3 afternoon, saying that all visitors from the 11 areas entering Thailand will be required to quarantine themselves for 14 days with no exceptions.

But the post was deleted minutes later without explanation, according to Bangkok Post.

Healthy travellers to Thailand do not need to be quarantined

In response to Mothership's query, the Royal Thai Embassy in Singapore confirmed at 1:04pm on Mar. 4 that travellers from Singapore need not be quarantined if they are healthy.

However, travellers who have a fever with respiratory symptoms will have to undergo further medical evaluation and potentially be placed in an isolation room at one of the designated hospitals.

The Royal Thai Embassy confirmed with Mothership at 4:25pm again, upon a further query, that only those with symptoms of Covid-19 have to be quarantined as a precautionary measure to prevent the spread of Covid-19.

Here is their reply in full:

"Our Thai Government welcomes all nationalities of every country but do take note of the following information:

Arriving passengers from Singapore need not go for quarantine if they are healthy, but do take note that they have to comply with the health screening procedure conducted by the Thai Authorities upon arrival at the port of entry.

Travellers who have a fever with respiratory symptoms will undergo a further medical evaluation and potentially be placed in an isolation room at one of the designated hospitals.

Visitors from Singapore or elsewhere should protect themselves and monitor their health as a precautionary measure to prevent the outbreak of COVID-19.

This is the latest information for passengers who wish to enter our Kingdom of Thailand."
