The Ministry of Health (MOH) has come out to debunk a rumour regarding Covid-19 circulating on social media.

Fake tweet

A tweet claimed that a foreign domestic worker in Singapore had just passed away from the virus.

The tweet was posted on Feb. 28, 2020.

The Twitter user then continued by saying "god bless her soul", and casually added an assumption that the worker's employer visits China frequently.

No fatality in Singapore as of Feb. 28

In response, MOH stated they are aware of the circulation of the tweet and have debunked the misinformation.

They said that as of Feb. 28, 4pm, there has been no fatality from Covid-19 in Singapore.

It was revealed that the domestic worker in question was tested for Covid-19 and found to be negative.

They advised members of the public not to speculate or spread unfounded rumours.

Four foreign workers still infected

Thus far, there have been 96 confirmed cases of Covid-19 in Singapore, and 66 have been discharged.

However, five Bangladeshis have been infected since the start of the outbreak. One has already been discharged on Feb. 26.

Of the remaining four, one is in critical condition.
