S'porean man, 32, goes on date in JB, finds S$885 gone from account after woman used his phone to look for next place to go

A Singaporean man, Chen, met up with a woman he had matched with on Tinder.

According to Shin Min Daily News, the man is in the finance industry.

After chatting with the woman online for about a month, they arranged to meet.

The woman worked in public relations and introduced herself as "Nam".

He told Stomp the two of them had dinner at a Thai restaurant in Johor Bahru, Malaysia.

The woman told him she lived and worked in JB, and was originally from Chiang Mai, Thailand.

The date went well, and the woman even took his phone to search for places to have their next date.

According to Shin Min, the date went till 1am, and Chen ended up paying for the meal.

The woman then reportedly invited Chen to go to her house to continue the night, but when he went into a convenience store to buy snacks, she slipped away.

The woman also blocked him.

The man told Stomp that he grew suspicious and checked his financial accounts, where he noticed a RM2,800 (S$886) transfer from his Touch ‘n Go eWallet account.

He later made a police report in Malaysia.
