A Singaporean woman was charged in court on Jun. 10 for feeding pigeons and crows during separate incidents in Yishun.

Tan Chong Hong was charged three times under the Wildlife Act for allegedly feeding the birds without written approval from the director-general of wildlife management at the National Parks Board (NParks).

According to court documents seen by Mothership, the 74-year-old was charged for feeding pigeons on Nov. 28, 2025, at 161, Yishun Street 11.

She did the same again, allegedly feeding pigeons and crows with food on Dec. 24, 2025, at an area beside Yishun Primary School below the MRT tracks.

Her third charge was for feeding pigeons with bread on Mar. 20, 2026, at around 4:25am at the Yishun Park Connector.

Speaking through an interpreter, Tan denied the charges and expressed her intention to submit a written explanation, requesting an email address to do so, The Straits Times (ST) reported.

According to ST, the judge then asked the NParks prosecutor to provide her with the contact information and adjourned the case to allow her time to submit her representations.

The case will return to court for a mention on Jul. 8.

Those who intentionally feed wildlife without written approval can be fined up to $5,000.
