A teenager who drove dangerously while underage, resulting in a collision with six vehicles, was given 18 charges in court on May 28.

According to CNA, he is currently 18 years old, but cannot be named as he was under the age of 18 at the time of the alleged offences.

The police previously shared that he had multiple traffic offences in relation to three incidents.

His charges included dangerous driving causing hurt, driving whilst underage, using a deregistered vehicle, failing to stop when ordered by a police officer, and failing to stop after an accident.

He reportedly indicated he would plead guilty at his next court hearing, scheduled for July.

The first incident

The most recent incident happened around 10:50pm on Jan. 16, 2026, when the teen drove off in a car upon seeing traffic police (TP) officers on patrol in the Paya Lebar area.

He led them on a high-speed chase, reaching 174 km/h on the East Coast Parkway (ECP), over the 90 km/h limit, and 96 km/h along Guillemard Road, over the 40 km/h limit.

He also ran multiple red lights and drove against the flow of traffic.

In the course of the pursuit, he allegedly collided with six stationary vehicles, then fled on foot before he was arrested.

The driver and 15-year-old passenger in the sixth car that was involved in the crash were injured.

Police investigations later revealed that the teen was driving a deregistered car with a false number plate.

A vaporiser and a pod were found in his car when he was arrested, but no further action was taken after investigations due to insufficient evidence.

The second & third incidents

There was a previous incident on Jan. 8, 2026, when the teen was caught driving while underage in a deregistered vehicle with a false number plate.

It was a different car from the one he would later drive in the Jan. 16 incident, the police said.

The police discovered the offence after conducting checks on the car at the carpark of Marina Bay Sands (MBS) Convention Centre, where the teen had driven to from Haig Road.

Earlier on Jan. 30, 2025, the teen took and drove his grandmother's car without her consent on Jan. 30, 2025.

He had found the ignition key in the unlocked vehicle and drove it for about an hour before returning it.

His grandmother called for police assistance when she realised her car was missing, and it was subsequently located nearby, the police said.
