To avoid going to a farewell party that co-workers were throwing for him, a police officer in Japan made a false bomb threat against the restaurant where the party was to be held.
Bomb hoax
According to Japan Today, in March, a restaurant in Saga City, Japan, received a phone call.
When a staff member answered, the voice on the other end told the member to check the restaurant's entrance.
The staff found a piece of paper at the restaurant's entrance with the message, "I have planted a bomb."
The restaurant had to cancel reservations for that night, including one by a group of co-workers who were throwing a farewell party for a colleague.
No explosives were found, and an investigation ensued.
Plot twist
In a twist, it turns out that the party was supposed to be for a police officer from the local police department.
The person who made the false bomb threat was the police officer for whom the party was organised.
The officer, who was in his 20s, was slated to leave the force at the end of March.
"I didn't want to go to my farewell party," the officer apparently explained, Tokyo Reporter wrote.
