US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth will be in Singapore this week for the 23rd IISS Shangri-La Dialogue, taking place from May 29 to 31 at the Shangri-La Hotel.
Hegseth will meet with Prime Minister Lawrence Wong and Minister for Defence Chan Chun Sing, along with holding bilateral and multilateral meetings with regional allies and partners.
According to the U.S. government's press release, the visit marks his fourth trip to the Indo-Pacific.
He is also set to deliver a plenary address at 8:30am SGT on May 30, outlining the U.S. Defense Department's approach to securing U.S. interests in the Indo-Pacific.
The Shangri-La Dialogue, convened by the IISS, is Asia's premier defence summit for discussing critical security challenges in the Asia-Pacific.
It brings together decision-makers from across the Asia-Pacific, North America, Europe, the Middle East and beyond to debate the region's most pressing security challenges and share policy responses.
This year's keynote address will be delivered by Vietnamese President Tô Lâm on May 29 at 8:00pm SGT.
