A 15-year-old boy in Thailand's Chaiyaphum Province has been charged after allegedly raping his biological mother while under the influence of alcohol and methamphetamine, according to Thai media outlet Thairath.

What happened

According to Thairath, the victim, identified by the pseudonym Boon, 46, filed a complaint with Ratchapon Wongwan, Deputy Chief Investigator at Ban Duea Police Station, Kaset Sombun District, Chaiyaphum Province, on May 26.

Boon's husband had died two years earlier, leaving her to live in the house with her two sons.

Boon told police she had been lying alone in her bedroom at around 9:00pm on the night of May 25, 2026, when her youngest son, referred to as A, entered the room heavily intoxicated.

According to Thairath, Boon said she tried to resist but could not overpower him after he allegedly punched her in the back and sexually assaulted her.

After the assault, A took a blanket and slept outside the house before fetching his older brother home. Boon did not immediately tell her eldest son, fearing further retaliation.

She consulted neighbours the following morning before filing a police report, per Thairath.

Scene described

Ratchapon and his officers visited the scene after the report was filed. Boon led them to the bedroom where an old mattress lay on the floor.

Thairath reported that A did not attempt to flee.

He was brought back to the scene to recount what happened and told investigators he had been lying on the mattress beside his mother when he became sexually aroused.

He then dragged her off the mattress and onto the concrete floor.

He reportedly told his mother: "Mom, I want to have sex with you because doing it with others costs money, but with you it's free."

A history of violence

A had already come to the attention of authorities multiple times before this incident.

In 2025, he supposedly punched an elderly woman in the stomach as she walked to a temple, causing her to fall. Because he was a minor, prosecution proved difficult and he was only reprimanded, per Thairath.

He also reportedly assaulted his 66-year-old grandfather, referred to as Prayoon, after being refused money for drugs and alcohol, kicking and punching him until he coughed up blood.

Less than a month later, he punched Prayoon's wife in the chin after she also refused to give him money for meth. She lost consciousness and was hospitalised for several weeks, with X-rays showing a near-fractured jaw.

Following the assaults, the village headman coordinated with a juvenile detention centre in Nakhon Ratchasima Province to send A for eight months of rehabilitation. He was released on Feb. 27, 2026, and returned home.

Prayoon said he wanted police to prosecute A fully and have him undergo treatment so that the villagers will no longer suffer from his actions.

Police response

Chaiyaphum Provincial Police Commander, Police Major General Sujarit Panlek, ordered investigators to expedite the case after receiving reports from Ban Duea Police Station, per Thairath.

He said: "This case involves a child committing a crime against a parent, which deeply affects the victim and the public."

A has since confessed to the assault. He was brought before a juvenile court to request a detention order given his age.

According to Thairath, Police Major General Sujarit added: "The prosecution will be conducted thoroughly and swiftly to ensure justice and maximum safety for the victim."
