Canopy Hawkers Group, which currently runs Canberra Hawker Centre, has been selected as the operator for Yishun Park Hawker Centre, the National Environment Agency (NEA) announced in a Facebook post on May 26.
Its tenancy will commence on Jul. 20, 2026.
NEA said that Canopy Hawkers Group will be bringing "fresh ideas to drive more footfall and create a more vibrant hawker centre experience for both patrons and stallholders".
Existing stallholders who wish to continue at Yishun Park Hawker Centre under Canopy Hawkers Group may continue to do so, NEA added.
Canopy Hawkers Group will take over from Timbre+ Hawkers.
Broadway Food Centre, Foodgle Social Enterprise and Timbre+ Hawkers also placed bids for the management of Yishun Park Hawker Centre, according to The Straits Times.
Socially-conscious Enterprise Hawker Centres
Yishun Park and Canberra Hawker Centres are Socially-conscious Enterprise Hawker Centres (SEHC), a concept introduced in 2011.
In a 2019 factsheet, NEA described SEHC as a way to leverage the expertise of socially-conscious enterprises in food and beverage and lease management and "introduce new ideas and innovative practices to achieve the social mission of hawker centres".
Timbre+ Hawkers previously received criticisms over certain management practices at Yishun Park Hawker Centre.
Canopy Hawkers Group's management of Canberra Hawker Centre was also put under the spotlight last year over management practices, such as the inclusion of a contract clause requiring hawkers to provide free meals as part of a 'Pay-It-Forward' programme.
Canopy Hawkers Group later clarified that the programme has not been implemented and that the clauses would be removed when tenant agreements are renewed in September 2025.
