Three people, aged between 17 and 21, all of them male, were arrested for their suspected involvement in stealing a van in Tampines.
On May 23, at about 6:45pm, the police were alerted to a case of theft of a motor vehicle.
The victim reported that her van, parked at a car park along Tampines Avenue 9, was purportedly stolen.
Officers established the identities of the three male youths and arrested them on May 24 and 25 after follow-up investigations and ground enquiries.
The stolen van was recovered.
One of the 17-year-olds will be charged in court on May 28 with the offence of theft of a motor vehicle.
The offence carries a jail term of up to seven years and a fine.
Police investigations for the other 17-year-old and the 21-year-old are ongoing.
The police advised all motor vehicle owners to park their vehicle in well-lit areas, install anti-theft alarms and ensure proper maintenance of it, not to leave key or transponder unattended, remove cash-cards, keys and other valuables, such as laptops and mobile phones before leaving the vehicle, and wind up all windows and lock all doors of the vehicle, even if it is intended to be left unattended for a short while.
