2 taken to hospital after accident involving taxi & car at Yio Chu Kang Road near Bowen Secondary School

Two people were taken to the hospital following an accident involving a taxi and a car along Yio Chu Kang Road on May 30.

In a TikTok video posted by user @imwatching24hrs, a yellow taxi could be seen on the road divider emitting heavy smoke.

In response to Mothership's queries, the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) and Singapore Police Force (SPF) said they were alerted to the accident near the junction of Yio Chu Kang Road and Hougang Avenue 2 towards Upper Thomson Road at 3:50pm.

The SCDF said that upon arrival, a car was on fire and the SCDF extinguished the fire with a water jet.

The police and the SCDF said a 68-year-old male taxi driver and his 58-year-old female passenger were conveyed conscious to Tan Tock Seng hospital by the SCDF.

Accident occurred near Bowen Secondary School

The accident occurred near Bowen Secondary School, and students could be seen watching the events unfold.

A man could be seen running in the clip, and debris was scattered on the road.

According to the video, the eyewitness said, "There was a rustling sound in the middle of my football training, and after that, a car blew up and hit a tree."

"There was one uncle inside, I think he was a driver and there was also a guy inside that was badly injured. I saw him on the ground with blood on his face."

Police investigations are ongoing.
