East Coast Seafood Centre at East Coast Park will be redeveloped as part of broader efforts to revitalise the waterfront dining hub and its surroundings.
Aimed at enhancing visitor experience
According to CNA, the National Parks Board (NParks) confirmed that the planned redevelopment forms part of longer-term initiatives to enhance the visitor experience at the park, and that tenants are required to vacate the premises by 2026.
This comes after news that Jumbo Seafood will shutter its flagship outlet at the centre when its lease expires on Sep. 30, marking the end of a 39-year run at the location where the brand first launched in 1987.
In a Facebook post on May 30, Jumbo Group said it is "actively exploring" new sites to continue serving diners, while offering special promotions at the East Coast outlet leading up to its final day.
"After 39 memorable years at East Coast Park, we bid farewell to a place that has welcomed generations of guests and been part of countless cherished memories," the post read.
Jumbo Seafood has six other outlets in Singapore, including at Riverside Point, Dempsey Hill, Ion Orchard, Jewel Changi Airport, The Riverwalk and Resorts World Sentosa.
NParks said tenants were notified of the 2026 deadline in advance to allow them sufficient time to make alternative arrangements, and that flexible lease terms had also been offered to ease the transition, CNA reported.
The agency added that is is reviewing the centre's redevelopment plans in conjunction with the longer-term masterplan for East Coast Park.
Further details will be shared in due course.
