Driver arrested

According to New Straits Times, a 55-year-old bus driver has since been arrested on suspicion of reckless driving.

Bentong district police chief Superintendent Zaiham Mohd Kahar said police received a report at 5:09pm.

He said the first bus was believed to have lost control at a bend, striking the rear of an SUV before colliding with the back of the second express bus.

"Due to the impact, the second express bus lost control, skidded and overturned on the left side of the road, while the first bus veered to the right side of the road," he said.

He said initial investigations found that the crash was caused by the driver of the first express bus, who was believed to have been driving recklessly.

Investigations found the driver had 29 outstanding traffic summonses for various offences.

A urine screening test conducted on him returned negative.

The case is currently being investigated under Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
