A fire broke out at a Housing and Development Board (HDB) block in Choa Chu Kang in the afternoon of May 31.
In a Facebook post, the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said it was alerted to the blaze at Block 439 Choa Chu Kang Avenue 4 at around 1:20pm.
Upon arrival, officers found the living room of a 14th-floor unit ablaze.
The fire was brought under control using two water jets, though the entire unit sustained heat and smoke damage.
Four persons from the affected block were later assessed by a paramedic for smoke inhalation before being taken to Singapore General Hospital.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
In the post, SCDF also reminded residents that unattended cooking, electrical faults, and unattended lighted materials remain the top three causes of residential fires.
Residents are advised not to leave cooking or open flames, including incense, candles and cigarettes, unattended, to avoid overloading power sockets, and to refrain from leaving devices charging overnight.
Lighted materials should also be fully extinguished before disposal.
