Shopper alarmed to find cockroaches in produce section at Orchard Central Don Don Donki

A woman doing her grocery shopping at Orchard Central’s Don Don Donki got more than she bargained for — spotting cockroaches crawling among the produce.

Videos taken by the shopper, Loraine, showed the roaches moving across the broccoli and pumpkin on display.

When Mothership visited the outlet on the afternoon of Apr. 14, a few cockroaches were also seen roaming around the produce section.

Inspected and sanitised

In response to queries from Mothership, a spokesperson from Don Don Donki said they are aware of the matter and have conducted a thorough inspection and sanitisation of the affected area.

Additional preventive measures have been implemented, including increased inspection frequency and reinforcement of their hygiene protocols, they said.

"To date, we have been working very proactively with our pest control contractor to do regular inspections and comprehensive treatments consistently," the spokesperson said.

"We understand the concerns this incident has caused and would like to assure our customers that we remain committed to maintaining a safe and pleasant shopping environment. We will continue to monitor the situation closely and work with the relevant authorities, including the Singapore Food Agency."
