After a woman and her helper noticed that their bras and underwear began disappearing from the clothes rack outside their house, the family installed a surveillance camera at the door.

What the camera captured shocked them.

According to Shin Min Daily News, a stranger appeared in the corridor outside the house at Block 226 Serangoon Avenue 4 around 2am on Apr. 7.

He was behaving suspiciously.

Then, he studied the undergarments hanging on the rack, took out a plastic bag, and placed all the undergarments in the bag before going down the stairs.

The whole process took less than five minutes.

Four days later, the man returned to the house at around 2:30am, this time donning a cap and mask.

After pacing along the corridor for some time, he once again grabbed the undergarments from the rack.

Reported to the police

The woman, who lost close to S$150 worth of undergarments, made a police report afterwards.

In response to Mothership's queries, the police confirmed that a report was lodged and investigations are ongoing.

Puzzled and concerned

The family decided to install a surveillance camera because they had suspected a thief.

Five or six of the woman's bras had gone missing, and most of them were new, her husband, surnamed Hong (transliteration), told Shin Min.

"If there was wind, some of them would just fall on the floor — they would not all go missing," he said. "So we suspected that someone stole them."

However, after their suspicions were proven correct, Hong felt puzzled about the thief's intentions.

As he did not recognise the man, Hong believed that he was not a resident on the same block.

"I do not know why he would do such a thing," he said. "We hope to remind the other residents to be more alert about the things they place outside of their house."
