One way I save whenever I order food on Grab is to start a group order, which offers some discount based on the number of people in the group.

Another way is by redeeming GrabCoins to offset some of my transactions.

But the secret, I realised recently, to really putting your money to work and multiplying your savings is to wait until the 15th of each month for the monthly GrabCoins Flash Sale.

The savings you can get from the redeemables during the Flash Sale can be a whole lot more than what you are already able to get with the transaction discounts.

Getting more out of your GrabCoins

In case you aren’t aware, GrabRewards became GrabCoins in November 2025, a change that has made earning and saving much easier.

You can now use your GrabCoins to exchange for a wide range of perks and to offset some of your Grab transactions.

Recently, Grab has introduced a monthly GrabCoins Flash Sale that starts on the 15th of every month, where vouchers like S$10 off GrabFood or S$10 off Grab rides become redeemable at almost half the usual GrabCoins required.

For example, during the upcoming April Flash Sale, a S$10 voucher for GrabFood will be redeemable with 3,000 GrabCoins, while the usual price is 5,000 GrabCoins.

Is this a better deal than just exchanging your GrabCoins for direct discounts? Let’s do some maths with some of the vouchers for the upcoming April Flash sale.

With about 10,000 GrabCoins in my account, it translates to about S$20 in value, according to the Grab app (500 GrabCoins ≈ S$1).

During the monthly Flash Sale, a S$10 GrabFood voucher will cost you just 3,000 Grabcoins which is roughly S$6, instead of the usual S$10.

With 10,000 GrabCoins, I can potentially redeem three S$10 off GrabFood vouchers, compared to the usual two.

That’s 50 per cent more in discounts for the same amount of GrabCoins. Honestly, a steal.

The Flash Sale catalogue is refreshed monthly with a curated selection of deals, so be sure to check back regularly to see what’s on offer, while stocks last. The fastest fingers win.

How to take advantage of the monthly Flash Sale

This also means you’ll want to enter the 15th of each month with enough GrabCoins in your account to take advantage of whatever goodies are on offer.

No matter whether you’re a frequent Grab user like me or the type to use Grab a few times a month, there are ways to maximise the amount of GrabCoins you can earn before the 15th.

There are many ways to go about it, like starting Group Orders or using GrabFood Pickups in the morning.

While you want to accumulate your GrabCoins and save them for a redemption, just remember that GrabCoins will expire.

GrabCoins earned on and before January 2026 will expire on Jul. 31, 2026, while coins earned from January onwards will expire six months from the month they are earned.

For example, GrabCoins earned in March 2026 expire in September 2026.

So don’t save them endlessly and make redemptions when you can.

So, the next time you’re ordering something on Grab, see if you can stretch your dollars by earning extra GrabCoins and, waiting for the 15th of every month, redeem rewards at a discount during the monthly Flash Sale.
