On Apr. 7, 2026, ICA officers at Woodlands Checkpoint foiled an attempt to smuggle duty-unpaid cigarettes into Singapore via a Malaysia-registered motorcycle.

The cigarettes were found in a loaf of bread.

ICA officers had directed the motorcycle for checks, and detected a loaf of bread in the centre basket of the vehicle.

Upon closer inspection, multiple duty-unpaid cigarettes were found concealed within the loaf of bread.

ICA Search & Examination officers conducted further checks and retrieved eight packets of duty-unpaid cigarettes from the concealment.

The 49-year-old Malaysian man was arrested in connection with the case and referred to Singapore Customs for further investigation.
