E-bike rider & bus driver stop to argue loudly in Clementi after nearly colliding, Tower Transit counsels driver on safe driving
The bus driver had strayed into the path of the e-bike rider.
An e-bike rider and a public bus driver were caught on camera engaged in a verbal confrontation after they allegedly nearly got into an accident.
A video of the exchange has since gone viral.
A passenger told Mothership that the incident took place on bus service 189 in Clementi on the morning of Apr. 13.
In response to Mothership’s queries, a spokesperson from Tower Transit said that, following investigations, the bus captain was found to have made a right turn from an incorrect lane and strayed into the path of the e-bike.
“The bus captain will be counselled and reminded to maintain safe driving standards,” they added.
Confrontation
In the video, the rider could be seen gesturing angrily as he approached the driver’s window to confront him.
He then boarded the bus and launched into a lengthy rant in Mandarin and dialect, demanding that the police be called.
The driver, who appeared equally frustrated, said he did not see the rider and asked if the rider is causing trouble by blocking the bus.
As the argument continued, a woman could be heard saying in Mandarin: “I want to go home!”
The rider responded that it was none of his business.
The exchange continued for a few more minutes before the rider returned to his e-bike and rode off.
He appeared to turn back a couple of times to glare at the driver.
