M'sian family seeks witnesses after daughter & boyfriend, 16 & 19, killed in Johor Bahru crash
The family is appealing for anyone with dashcam footage from Jalan Sultan Ismail near the U-turn towards Kota Iskandar to come forward.
A Malaysian family is appealing for witnesses after their 16-year-old daughter and her 19-year-old boyfriend were killed in a road collision in Johor Bahru on Apr. 3.
The pair were travelling in a white car along Jalan Sultan Ismail when the collision occurred between about 3:40am and 4:00am, according to the family.
Both died at the scene.
NST Online reported there was a third passenger in the car, who suffered an injury to his right hand and was taken to Sultanah Aminah Hospital.
The family is now urging members of the public who may have dashcam footage from the area at the time to come forward.
Family appealing for dashcam footage near Jalan Sultan Ismail
In messages shared online, the family said they are looking in particular for recordings from vehicles travelling along Jalan Sultan Ismail near the U-turn towards Kota Iskandar during the time of the incident.
Footage from vehicles travelling in the opposite direction may also help clarify what happened before the crash, they added.
Even images showing a motorcycle from behind could provide useful identifying details.
They also urged witnesses to respond quickly before dashcam or nearby CCTV recordings are overwritten.
Survivor allegedly said vehicle may have been followed by motorcyclist
Based on their communication with the surviving passenger and footage they have received, the family claimed there is reason to believe a motorcyclist may have been following the vehicle before the accident.
The dashcam SD card has also been sent for cybersecurity analysis to verify its origin and determine whether the footage has been edited, according to the family.
