A 62-year-old woman who boarded a Genting Dream cruise on Apr. 3, 2026, lost S$3,000 in cash when she reportedly dropped her wallet containing the money while playing slot machines at the casino.

Speaking to Shin Min Daily News, Chen (transliterated), said she had boarded the cruise for a three-day, two-night trip.

Slot machines

At about 9pm on Apr. 3, Chen visited the casino on the sixth floor to play slot machines.

While taking cash from her backpack, her wallet apparently fell out, Shin Min reported, adding that it was said to have contained her room key, as well as 30 pieces of S$100 notes totalling S$3,000.

Wallet with S$3,000

Following this, Chen visited the eighth-floor lounge for drinks and was about to show her room key when she realised that her wallet was missing.

She immediately returned to the casino counter to report this and waited for the investigation results.

A crew member who met her the next day said that after reviewing the CCTV footage, they found that a female passenger had bent down and picked up the wallet she described from the ground, Shin Min reported.

However, the female passenger reportedly denied picking up the wallet when contacted by the crew.

Police report

Chen, who was advised to call the police, went to the police station after disembarking to report the incident and give a statement.

Noting that the incident greatly affected her trip and mood, Chen said: "I had only been on the ship for less than two hours when this happened, and the amount involved was not small.

"I had brought the money on board to spend."

She added that if the other party is willing to return the wallet and cash, she is willing to drop the case and hopes that the matter can be resolved as soon as possible.

Shin Min reported that the police confirmed that they had received a report and that the case was under investigation.
