WhatsappThe police are investigating allegations of misconduct posted online by a former national youth sailor.

In a statement released on Apr. 12, the Singapore Sailing Federation (SSF) said that it is aware of the "serious allegations" that involved another athlete, concerning incidents in 2022 and 2023.

The SSF filed reports with the police and the Safe Sport Commission on Apr. 7, to enable the authorities to conduct the necessary investigations and provide the appropriate support.

"Our immediate priority is the individual’s safety and well-being," the federation said.

The allegations

In early April, the former sailor wrote on her Instagram stories that she had allegedly been sexually assaulted multiple times by a teammate while she was with the National Sailing Centre in 2022.

At the time, she was 13, and the teammate was 15, according to her.

In response to Mothership's queries, the police confirmed that a report was lodged and investigations are ongoing.

The SSF added in its statement that it is committed to the Safe Sport Unified Code and maintaining a sporting environment free from all forms of harassment.

It was not able to comment further as the matter is currently under official investigation.

The federation also urged the public to respect the privacy of all parties involved, and refrain from speculation while legal processes are underway.
