Just two months into their marriage, a Thai woman caught her Singaporean husband drinking and slapped him multiple times.
He reported the incident to the police, but about a month later, she assaulted him again — this time punching him in the face and chest.
Warathip Aunkaew, 32, pleaded guilty to one count of voluntarily causing hurt and was fined S$2,800.
Another charge was taken into consideration during sentencing.
Married only two months
The couple was married in April 2025, according to court documents seen by Mothership.
On Jun. 5, 2025 at about 1:33am, Warathip's husband Toh Ming Fu Noah, called the police after she struck him on his face multiple times.
This happened at the first floor of Sultan Plaza.
Investigations revealed that Toh was at a friend’s pub at Sultan Plaza, where he shared around 10 to 12 bottles of alcohol with five of his friends.
The couple met at about 1:12am, and Warathip had questioned why he was there.
She proceeded to slap him multiple times on his face, and a verbal dispute ensued.
Husband tried to lift wife
Shortly thereafter, Toh grabbed and pulled her towards the lift, where he then pressed the lift to level 8.
After the lift door opened on level 8, Toh uttered words to the effect that they could "die together".
Toh was said to be under the influence of alcohol at the time.
He wrapped both his hands around Warathip’s body and forcefully pulled her towards the window.
While Warathip tried to resist, she was unsuccessful.
Toh then pushed the window open and tried to lift his wife off the ground towards the open window for about 30 seconds.
He intended to cause alarm to her by his actions, the prosecutor said.
While she tried her best to resist Toh, she was again unsuccessful.
Toh kept her cornered for some time by the window, until he eventually decided to stop harassing her.
They left the scene together thereafter.
Toh sustained small cuts on his lips and redness on the left side of his face and neck, while Warathip did not sustain any visible injuries.
Second incident
According to the charge sheets for another charge taken into consideration, Warathip assaulted her husband again more than a month after the first incident.
This happened in a unit in Serangoon where she is said to have punched Toh in the face and chest, causing him to suffer facial and chest wall contusions.
