S'porean man, 31, dies in accident on M'sia highway 1 month before marrying air stewardess fiancée
His family is seeking witnesses.
A Singaporean motorcyclist returning home from Malaysia has died after allegedly being struck by two vehicles on a Malaysian highway in Johor.
31-year-old Joash Fung was due to be married in a month, reported Shin Min Daily News.
His father and fiancée told the media outlet that Fung had always been a cautious rider.
They are seeking witnesses for the accident.
Accident
According to Shin Min, the accident occurred on Apr. 20 at about 3am, along the North-South Expressway in Kulai, Johor.
Fung's father told the media that his son had travelled to Kuala Lumpur on his bike with eight friends on a three to four-day trip, but returned alone earlier.
Malaysian police said that Fung's motorcycle was suspected to have skidded and gone out of control before he was hit by two passing vehicles.
He sustained severe injuries and died at the scene.
His body was brought back to Singapore, and a memorial service was held on Apr. 21.
Fung's father told Shin Min that he heard the news about his son's accident at about 5am that morning.
When he rushed to Johor Bahru, medical staff told him that Fung had sustained broken ribs that caused severe internal bleeding.
He was only identifiable by his helmet and clothing, the elder Fung said.
Groom-to-be
Fung's fiancée, Lydia, a 33-year-old air stewardess, told the media that she was on a flight back from the U.S. when the accident occurred.
She received the news after landing back in Singapore, where she discovered numerous missed calls and messages.
"We have been together for six years and were going to register our marriage next month. Now I'm left alone," she said.
According to her, the couple had just moved into their BTO flat three weeks before the accident.
She vouched for Fung's carefulness when riding his motorcycle, stating that he would never speed nor ride when fatigued.
Alongside Fung's father, who was told by Malaysian police that there were no CCTVs at the accident site, she sought witnesses who would be able to provide evidence or dashcam footage to assist in investigations.
