Woman, 37, found dead in JB hotel room with 14 stab wounds
The Johor Bahru Selatan district police chief said the woman was believed to be a sex worker.
A 37-year-old woman was found dead in a Johor Bahru (JB) hotel room with 14 stab wounds, reported Malay Mail.
Johor Bahru Selatan district police chief, Assistant Commissioner Raub Selamat, told Malaysian reporters that the police received a report at 5.30am.
Initial investigations suggest that the victim was killed between 1:30am and 4:30am in a hotel room in Taman Maju Jaya,
The area is around a six-minute drive from KSL City Mall, according to Google Maps.
Raud said: "The victim sustained 11 stab wounds to the chest, one on the neck, one on the right index finger, and one on her right arm".
Suspected killer & victim are believed to be foreigners
According to The Star, Raub added that the woman was believed to be a sex worker and a foreigner.
The suspected killer is believed to be a foreign man; he fled the scene after the incident.
Raub said that police have yet to find the weapon used in the incident, reported The Star.
Raub also said that “the motive behind the murder is still under investigation", reported Malay Mail.
The case is being investigated under Section 302 of Malaysia's Penal Code for murder, said Raub, "which carries the death penalty or imprisonment of not less than 30 years and up to 40 years, with at least twelve strokes of the cane upon conviction”.
