An Upper Thomson property that was broken into on Feb. 21, 2026, was the second home to be targeted in the area.

Another home just 500m away was also trespassed.

Responding to queries from Mothership, the police confirmed that a call for assistance was received from a residential estate along Taman Permata on Feb. 17 at around 7:50pm.

"Preliminary investigations revealed that an individual had allegedly entered a residential premises without permission and had left prior to police’s arrival."

This was just days prior to a similar incident on Marigold Drive, where a balaclava-clad trespasser left after coming face-to-face with a female resident, reported AsiaOne.

The woman said:

"As the doorknob was turning, I saw a masked man looking back at me."

Marigold Drive trespass

The female homeowner spoke to The Straits Times (ST) on Feb. 23, saying that intruders were "getting so daring", choosing to target her home despite the lights being on.

She told ST that she has lived in her multi-storey Marigold Drive home for 40 years.

At around 9:30pm on Feb. 21, her female tenant, who rents a room on the ground floor of the house, spotted the intruder and screamed, causing the man to flee.

The homeowner rushed down, and her tenant pointed towards the back of the house, which faced the forest.

The back door was ajar and looked like it had been tampered with, reported ST.

The female homeowner said that since the incident, she has been working to install cameras at her home.

"I'm glad I'm still alive because it was a very bizarre experience of confronting the person himself", said the female tenant to AsiaOne.

2 homes 500m apart

The Taman Permata trespass, on the other hand, occurred on the first day of the Chinese New Year, and residents returned home to find shoe marks in their living room, according to AsiaOne.

Both homes border the Central Catchment Nature Reserve, specifically the forests that surround MacRitchie Reservoir.

It is not known if the suspect involved in both cases is the same person.

The police added that efforts to trace the suspect are underway, andĀ investigations are ongoing.
