Crowd makes way for ambulance in China as fireworks display draws 300,000 people to street
People mountain, people sea.
A crowd of 300,000 people in China put their revelry on hold for several minutes to allow an ambulance ferrying a patient to pass through the streets.
The incident took place on Feb. 21 at around 8:20pm in the vicinity of the Liuyang Sky Theater in Changsha, the capital of Hunan, China.
The ambulance was reportedly ferrying a tourist at the time.
A resident was flying a drone to film the fireworks at the time when he saw the scene on the ground and was touched.
He said: "The number of people at the scene was said to be 300,000. Even though people were packed together, everyone still cooperated to make way."
An official from Liuyang City told reporters that, according to his understanding, the tourist in the ambulance had a minor health problem, but is fine: "Basically, no organisation was involved. This was the most basic reaction from the audience."
The fireworks display was also reportedly put on hold for a few minutes as the crowd made way for the ambulance to evacuate with the tourist.
The ambulance travelled 1.5km across two streets before leaving the festive venue.
