Popiah & carrot cake stall at Balestier Market to close after 45 years in business
Closing at end-Feb. 2026.
After operating for about 45 years, Miow Sin Popiah and Carrot Cake Stall will soon be bidding customers farewell in end-February 2026.
The owner announced via a physical notice that the stall will be ceasing operations on Feb. 26, 2026.

Long history
The business has been operating since 1981.
It is currently located in Balestier Market at 411 Balestier Road.

Prior to this, the stall operated at Jalan Besar and later at Eminent Plaza on Lavender Street.
Good reviews
According to the stall's menu, it offers popiah, as well as carrot cake.
Customers have complimented the crispiness of the signature carrot cake dish, as well as the sweetness and crunchiness of the popiah.
Some have gone as far as call it one of the best carrot cakes in Singapore.

In addition, its accolades over the years include receiving a "Certificate of Fine Culinary Skills" and being recognised in 2017 by "Singapore Best Foods".

Customers have also praised the service and character of its hawkers.
One customer, who previously forgot to bring cash with him when ordering at the "cash-only" stall, recalled that the hawker said: "It's ok, you can come back to pay when you have time."
"He has a heart of gold," the customer added.
Thanked customers
In light of its upcoming closure, the stall also expressed its gratitude to customers.
"Thank you sincerely for your patronage and support over the past 45 years," its notice read.
