The People's Power Party (PPP) Secretary-General, Goh Meng Seng, shrugged off concerns about the takeover of the party's web domain by an unknown foreign entity in comments posted on Facebook on Feb. 26.

No big deal

News broke on Feb. 26 that PPP's website domain had been taken over by an unknown entity based outside Singapore, called Targas Limited.

Visitors to the website, which now lists information about the party, will see a disclaimer stating that the website is not the official party website.

Responding to the incident in a Facebook post, Goh, who started PPP in 2015, said that it was "nothing big" as the party works mostly on social media, like Facebook.

He also shared that they had ceased operation of the website after GE 2025.

Goh said he does not know who is behind Targas Limited, and the party was not consulted before the takeover.

Regarding concerns on whether the domain takeover would lead to malicious publications against the PPP, Goh said, "My natural response would be, whether it's on our past domain or any other websites, we can just sue lor!"

New owner has done 'impressive job'

However, Goh noted that the company that took over the website has done "an impressive job" recording PPP's history.

The website lists information such as the party's beliefs, its past electoral record, and a blurb on Goh Meng Seng as the founder.

"When Singaporeans aren't even interested or politically discerning, a foreign entity has instead spent much effort, time and even money to put up a pretty good record of our party's history!" Goh remarked.

Goh said that no legal actions are planned against the company, as there was no defamatory content.

"We might have lost the elections badly but at least someone out there remember our efforts. Thank You!" Goh said.

He also noted that the PPP will have a new domain name if they are to contest in future general elections.
