Body of missing boy, 13, retrieved from Kallang River

The boy was reported missing on Feb. 25, about 30 hours before the body was found.

The body of the missing 13-year-old boy was retrieved from the Kallang River on Feb. 26 night near where he was reported missing more than 30 hours earlier.

The police confirmed with Mothership that they received a call for assistance regarding a body found floating in the Kallang River at about 10:35pm.

He was pronounced dead at the scene by a Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) personnel.

Based on preliminary investigations, the police do not suspect foul play.

Police investigations are ongoing.

Fell into river

The 13-year-old boy was reported missing on Feb. 25 after falling into the river.

The police and SCDF were alerted to the incident on Wednesday at about 4:30pm and 4:35pm, respectively.

SCDF had earlier called off the search operation for the second time at 7pm on Feb. 26 after an extensive 12-hour search for the boy.

The boy is not a strong swimmer, according to his mother.

She identified the missing boy as Daniel, who has two brothers and studies at Northlight School, CNA reported.
