Over 600,000 Singaporeans eRegistered with MFA in 2025, more than double 2019 figure: Gan Siow Huang
MFA is looking to enhance consular support for overseas Singaporeans.
More than 600,000 Singaporeans eRegistered their travels with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) in 2025, said Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Gan Siow Huang on Feb. 27.
This is double those who eRegistered their travel in 2019.
Speaking in parliament during the 2026 Committee of Supply debate for MFA, Gan's speech highlighted the consular service MFA has offered to Singaporeans in the past year.
MFA's work has "become more salient" to safeguard the country's national interests in light of a world marked by geopolitical competition and growing power rivalry, she said.
The ministry is looking to strengthen its consular support for overseas Singaporeans, a population that she said is bigger today than ever before.
In 2025, Singapore residents made a total of 10.6 million overseas trips, according to Gan, adding that some of these travellers met unfortunate situations and required consular assistance.
Among the MFA's support systems she raised was the eRegister system, which Singaporeans travelling overseas can use to register their trips and tap on when in need of consular assistance.
With over 600,000 Singaporeans relying on this service in 2025, it is more than doubled from the number in 2019.
MFA is also looking to enhance its 24/7 Consular Response Centre to provide effective and timely support, Gan added.
These centres, which operate around the clock, provide live updates to Singaporean travellers during emergencies.
