'Lucky numbers' placed by lion dance troupe at VivoCity wins 4D top prize on Feb. 25

A set of "lucky numbers" drawn by a lion dance troupe using oranges during a performance on Feb. 25 at VivoCity emerged as the top prize in a recent 4D draw.

In a Facebook post on Feb. 26, the mall confirmed that the troupe picked out peeled oranges and formed the winning number 1516 during its performance at the mall's North Court.

Speaking to Mothership, a reader said she had visited the mall during a lion dance performance.

According to her, the troupe left behind a set of four digits on the floor after their performance — a common festive gesture believed by some to symbolise good fortune.

She later saw the numbers match the first prize in the 4D results on the Singapore Pools website.

The reader said she did not place a bet on the number herself.

"I didn't buy, can cry," she wrote, adding that she saw many others taking down the digits and expressed hope that they would enjoy a windfall.

While it is not known how many people placed bets on the digits, VivoCity highlighted the coincidence and conveyed its well wishes to visitors in its Facebook post.

The mall shared images of the performance, as well as mandarin oranges and peel scattered on the floor, with multiple pieces forming the number 1516.

"Lion dance. Four lucky numbers. First Prize match. What a way to kick off the Year of the Horse," VivoCity wrote, noting that it coincided with its 20th anniversary year.

The mall added, "If you were there yesterday, maybe luck was on your side. Wishing everyone a year full of momentum, prosperity and joyful surprises."
