Boy, 13, reported missing in Kallang River

A search and rescue operation by the Singapore Police Force and Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) to search for a 13-year-old male teenager is underway in a case of suspected drowning at Kallang River.

According to images and videos by Mothership readers, uniformed personnel could be seen by the river on Feb. 25, 2026.

Lianhe Zaobao reported that the boy was believed to have fallen into the water near Block 8B Upper Boon Keng Road.

A group of youths were reportedly seen near the riverbank at about 3pm.

In response to Mothership’s queries, the police confirmed they were alerted at about 4:30pm on Feb. 25, 2026 to a case of suspected drowning at Kallang River.

A search and rescue operation by the Singapore Police Force and Singapore Civil Defence Force to search for the 13-year-old male teenager is underway.

Responding to Mothership’s queries, SCDF confirmed they were alerted at about 4:35pm to a water rescue incident at Kallang River.

SCDF firefighters and rescuers from the Disaster Assistance and Rescue Team (DART) responded to the incident.

DART rescuers conducted an underwater search in the area where the reported missing person was last seen.

After more than four hours of search, operations were suspended as a safety precaution due to low visibility as nightfall approached.

The search will resume at first light the following morning, SCDF added.

Preliminary investigations do not suspect foul play and police investigations are ongoing.
