ICA officers tore off the bumper revealing rows of duty-unpaid cigarette packets.
A 28-year-old Malaysian man was arrested after he attempted to smuggle duty-unpaid cigarettes into Singapore.
On Feb. 11, 2026, Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) officers at Woodlands Checkpoint foiled the attempt, directing the Malaysia-registered car for further inspection.
A video of the incident was posted to ICA's Facebook page, showing an officer prying off the rear bumper of the white car.
After the bumper was torn off, an officer checked under the car's bonnet, revealing rows of tightly packed cigarette cartons.
More than 200 cartons & 1,000 packets found
Officers found more than 200 cartons and 1,000 packets of duty-unpaid cigarettes concealed in the car.
The driver was arrested in connection with the case.
The exhibits and suspect were referred to Singapore Customs for further investigation.
