Woman notices same man sitting across her on MRT train whenever she wears same black dress, police investigating
Others claimed they have encountered the same man before.
A woman in Singapore noticed a man who appeared to deliberately sit across from her on the MRT on multiple occasions each time she wore a black dress.
Alarmed by her observation of the man's behaviour, Ashley took to TikTok to recount her experience.
In it, she said the man apparently shows up during her commute to work whenever she wore a particular black dress.
She has since reported the matter to the Singapore Police Force (SPF).
The police confirmed with Mothership that a report was lodged and investigations are ongoing.
Sits near her
Ashley told Mothership that she first noticed the man late in 2025.
She usually boards the train at Tanah Merah MRT station when it is still relatively empty.
The first time she saw him, the man rushed to take the seat directly opposite hers.
He had apparently outmanoeuvred a woman who was trying to sit there.
After that, she observed that he would sit diagonally across from her — specifically on days when she wore the same black dress.
Tried a different carriage
Wanting to give him the benefit of the doubt, she decided to put her suspicions to the test by boarding a different carriage on another occasion while wearing the dress.
While waiting for the train, she looked up and saw the man standing across from her on the platform as well.
When she moved to a different door, he allegedly followed as well.
In another incident, he allegedly changed seats when a standing commuter blocked his view.
Ashley asked if the man was attempting to take upskirt photos of her, but noted that he was not holding his phone in her direction.
She said she was scared when she confirmed that he was following her and wanted to confront him, but got cold feet at the moment and felt that she could not do anything.
Reported to police
Following her initial video, she said others have since reached out to her claiming to have encountered the same man on the train.
One commenter said they had seen him on the train between Pasir Ris and Tampines.
According to the commenter, he had allegedly been staring at a woman seated diagonally across from him and was apparently rubbing his groin while staring at her leg.
"I didn’t expect so many people to recognise him," Ashley said.
She added: "Other girls who have reached out to me also mentioned that they were wearing dresses or skirts when they encountered him, so it does appear to be a pattern."
She has not seen the man since she first shared her ordeal online.
