About 23 years after he got married, a man in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, started having an affair with another woman, getting into sexual relations with her possibly 24 times over just four months in 2024.

There was such a record of their affair because the man noted down each occasion in his personal calendar, and numbered them from one to 24, Mirror Media reported.

He also included suggestive remarks next to each record.

The man has been married to his wife since 2001, and they have four children together.

When the wife found out about the affair, her husband came clean, so she tried to settle with the mistress privately.

But the mistress refused, and told the wife to go ahead and sue her — which she did, and won the case.

The court recently ordered the mistress to pay the wife NTD 200,000 (S$8,060) in damages.

Overwhelming evidence

In the wife's lawsuit, she demanded that the mistress pay her NTD 999,999 (S$40,300) as compensation for emotional distress.

During the court trial, the mistress denied having a sexual relationship with the man and claimed that they were just ordinary friends.

However, the man had signed an agreement with his wife, in which he confessed that the pair had sexual relations at least 10 times, and promised not to do so again.

The court also had a lot of evidence pointing to an extramarital affair.

Apart from the man's calendar log, there were also chat records where they called each other "wife" and "husband", and suggestive photos that the mistress had sent the man.

Perhaps the strongest evidence was the audio recordings of what they said to each other, likely when they were having sex.

The wife also recorded her confrontation with the mistress after she discovered the affair.

Based on their conversation, the court judged that the mistress did know that the man was married, and still gave him a key to her house and began a relationship with him.

As a result of the affair, the wife suffered emotional distress and has sought psychological therapy, according to Mirror Media.

The court ultimately ordered the mistress to pay NTD 200,000 (S$8,060) in damages after considering several factors, including her financial situation based on her profession.

The case is currently subject to appeal.
