Muslims in Singapore are set to welcome the Islamic month of Ramadan on Feb. 19, 2026.

In a media release by the Islamic Religious Council of Singapore (Muis) on Feb. 17, Singapore Mufti Nazirudin Mohd Nasir announced that the date was determined, as astronomical calculations during sunset this evening did not meet the criteria to mark the start of the fasting month.

According to astronomical calculations, the crescent of the month of Ramadan is not visible above Singapore's horizon at sunset this evening (Feb. 17, 2026), because the moon set four minutes earlier than the sun.

The Mufti said:

"I take this opportunity to extend my heartfelt greetings to the entire Muslim community in Singapore: Wishing you a blessed Ramadan, filled with blessings and the graciousness of Allah s.w.t.

Let us seize this precious opportunity to strengthen our faith and devotion to Allah s.w.t. through steadfast worship, gratitude, graciousness and giving in our interactions with one another."
