A Malaysian man working as a courier earned a salary of just RM230 (S$74) despite delivering 2,600 parcels at work.

According to mStar, his wife claimed that he was offered the full-time position with a basic salary and commission.

However, he was later told that he had needed to reach a delivery target to be given the full compensation package.

Undisclosed targets and hefty deductions

The man had reportedly joined the courier company after he was informed during the job interview that it was a full-time role.

He successfully delivered 2,600 parcels during his time there.

However, he later found out that he was considered a part-time worker.

He was also required to reach a target of 3,520 parcels to be converted to a full-timer.

The woman added that her husband was reportedly subjected to various deductions, including RM700 (S$225) for Cash on Delivery (COD) transaction-related fees and RM200 (S$64) for "problematic parcel" charges.

She expressed her dissatisfaction, claiming that these terms were not explained in detail during the interview, leaving her husband feeling cheated.

Similar experiences with the company

While she did not disclose the exact salary offered or the specific branch of the courier company, several netizens shared similar experiences following her complaint.

Current workers lamented about purported miscellaneous penalties, including a penalty of RM10 (S$3) for not taking a selfie in their work uniform.

One former staff member also said that it is "not worth it at all" to be working as a courier under the company.
