Lucky Plaza assault: The Philippines to take legal action against man who hit woman
Philippine authorities in Singapore are investigating the cause of the incident.
The Philippine Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) is filing "necessary legal actions" following the Feb. 8 alleged assault at Lucky Plaza that was caught on camera.
According to GMA News, secretary Hans Cacdac said the department is also investigating the cause of the incident.
The woman has been identified by authorities in the Philippines as a Philippine national working in Singapore.
In a Facebook statement on Feb. 11, the Philippine embassy in Singapore said it was assisting the woman.

Cacdac said the woman had contacted the Migrant Workers Office labour attaché in Singapore for assistance, reported GMA News.
The labour attaché is currently investigating the exact cause of the incident.
Cacdac noted that while medical assistance remains their "primary priority", the department's lawyer is also "ready to assist her" when it comes to filing the complaint.
He added: "It's assault, physical assault. It's a crime anywhere in the world, especially in Singapore. We are looking into it and filing the necessary legal actions."

In light of the incident, the Philippine Embassy in Singapore shared on Feb. 11 that it is working alongside the Migrant Workers Office (MWO) and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) to take appropriate measures and provide necessary assistance to the woman.
It added that it will also "closely monitor" the situation and remain in contact with the woman to help ensure her safety and well-being.
"At this stage, we are mindful not to disclose details that could inadvertently affect ongoing measures or aggravate the situation," the embassy wrote.
