Girl, 6, dies in Chinatown accident: Friends raising money for mum's medical costs
The mother remains under intensive care in the hospital.
Friends and former classmates are helping to raise money to foot the medical costs of Raisha Anindra Pascasiswi, the mother of the six-year-old girl who passed away in a car accident in Chinatown in Singapore on Feb. 6.
The alumni association of her alma mater, the University of Indonesia, posted on their Instagram account on Feb. 10 regarding the fundraising.
They appealed for donations to be sent to the bank account of Raisha’s husband, who is reportedly still in Singapore to be by his wife's side.
Raisha graduated from the university’s Chinese literature programme in 2017.
Prayers
The association also shared:
“Let us pray together that the deceased will find the best place in the sight of Allah SWT, and that the family she leaves behind will be given strength and fortitude to face this trial.
Furthermore, we ask for prayers that our friend Raisha will be granted healing and will fully recover and be reunited with her family.”
In stable condition but remains weak
Raisha is still in intensive care in the hospital, The Straits Times reported on Feb. 10.
The Indonesian Embassy in Singapore told ST that she had sustained serious injuries, including internal injuries and fractures.
She remains under intensive medical care at the high dependency unit of the Singapore General Hospital.
While she has regained consciousness and is in stable condition, she remains weak.
The embassy is coordinating efforts to provide further assistance to the family, including possible facilitation of legal support.
It added that the family has expressed their intention to eventually transfer her to Indonesia for further medical treatment, but attending doctors have advised that she is not yet medically fit for evacuation, ST reported.
Was on holiday
Raisha was in Singapore on holiday with her husband, her six-year-old daughter, Sheyna Lashira Smaradiani, and her two-year-old son.
They were crossing the road along South Bridge Road when the mother and daughter were struck by a car.
Both were conveyed conscious to the hospital, but the six-year-old subsequently passed away, the Singapore Police Force said in a statement on Feb. 8.
A 38-year-old female driver has been arrested for driving without reasonable consideration, causing death.
The embassy said Sheyna's cause of death was determined to be from cranio-cerebral injuries, following a hospital autopsy.
Sheyna’s remains have since been repatriated to Indonesia on Feb. 8, and she was buried in the Tanah Kusir cemetery in South Jakarta later that day.
"Like an angel"
Rara, Sheyna's aunt and Raisha's older sister, described the girl as "like an angel".
She had been attending kindergarten in Jakarta, and was always bringing joy to the people around her, she said.
"She was kind and very cheerful... Always making people happy. Whenever you saw her, you'd think that she was such a delightful child," she told Kumparan.
She also expressed hope that Raisha would recover quickly and be reunited with the rest of the extended family.
"Please just pray that she gets well soon and recovers quickly, so she can return to Jakarta, to Indonesia again," she said.
