S'pore Changi Airport ranked one of the world’s best airports to meet love of your life

Airports are probably not the first place most people would think of when it comes to meeting their significant other.
Love is likely not on your mind when you’re stressed about boarding, sprinting to the correct gate, or monitoring updates on probable delays.
But maybe chaos is what makes airports the perfect setting for love.
A new study suggests that some airports may genuinely be better than others when it comes to sparking spontaneous romantic connections.
Changi Airport ranked among top global airports for romantic encounters
Singapore’s Changi Airport has been named as one of the top airports in the world where travellers are most likely to meet the love of their life, according to a new ranking by aviation legal-tech company AirAdvisor.
According to the ranking, the world’s top airports for potential love connections include:

Changi came in at number seven within the global top 10 in AirAdvisor’s newly launched Love Connection Score, an index that measures how likely airports are to create conditions for real-world spontaneous interactions.
Changi Airport stands out for comfort and mood
Changi Airport earned an overall Love Connection Score of 7.45 out of 10, with AirAdvisor highlighting Singapore in particular for its passenger experience, noting that Changi scored a perfect 10 out of 10 for comfort and mood.
Anton Radchenko, the CEO of AirAdvisor, said:
“Changi consistently ranks among the highest for passenger mood and comfort.
“When people feel relaxed and at ease, they are naturally more likely to engage with others, which increases the chances of spontaneous, real-world connections.”
It also received the highest Google Review rating in the region at 4.7, and ranked first in the research for social infrastructure, with more bars, cafés and restaurants per million passengers than any other airport studied.
AirAdvisor pointed to spaces, such as Jewel’s indoor gardens, waterfall and open seating areas, as examples of how Changi turns layovers into leisure, creating more opportunities for travellers to cross paths.
Love Connection Score
AirAdvisor’s Love Connection Score is described as a first-of-its-kind ranking that combines aviation network data with airport-level indicators linked to social interaction.
Rather than focusing on “romantic” cities, the index looks at practical factors such as:
- Passenger volume: how many passengers pass through an airport
- International mixing/ route diversity: how internationally diverse the traveller pool is
- Transfer passenger presence: how many people are in transit long enough to interact
- Social infrastructure: the availability of cafés, bars and shared social spaces
- City dating attractiveness: the attractiveness of the city’s post-arrival dating scene
- Passenger mood and comfort: overall passenger comfort and mood
According to AirAdvisor, these factors reflect the simple idea that connections are more likely when people are relaxed, unhurried, and spending time in common areas rather than rushing straight to their gates.
Asian hubs dominate the global rankings
AirAdvisor found that Asian airports performed particularly strongly, with several major hubs appearing in the top 10, such as Seoul Incheon, Tokyo Haneda and Bangkok Suvarnabhumi.
The study suggests this may be because many Asian airports are designed as lifestyle destinations in themselves, featuring extensive dining, retail, leisure attractions and comfortable spaces that encourage travellers to spend more time in the terminal.
AirAdvisor also suggested some ways that travellers can increase the chances of meeting someone at the airport, such as choosing longer layovers, spending time in cafés and shared lounges along with staying off headphones and phones during waiting time.
So the next time you’re rushing off for your next flight, it might be worth looking up from your phone, because who knows?
You might just encounter a meet-cute and bump into the love of your life somewhere in Changi Airport.
