M'sian influencer says 'only gays eat laksa & sushi', gets ridiculed by netizens

Malaysian influencer DMA Islam has come under fire after making a list of foods that, according to him, determine a man's sexuality.

In a post on Threads shared on Feb. 8, the 23-year-old said that "alpha" men only eat ayam gepuk, a spicy Indonesian dish consisting of a smashed crispy and marinated fried chicken mixed with sambal.

Food choices reflect "weakness"

In his post, DMA assigned three dishes and one beverage to categories linked to a person's sexuality.

Without further justifying why he specifically chose these four items, he categorised laksa and sushi (which he misspelled as "shushi") under the list of "gay foods".

The influencer suggested that eating laksa indicates one's "softness", while consuming sushi means that one "does not have power".

In contrast, he listed ayam gepuk and Americano as the staple of "alpha" males, or men typically categorised as being dominant, successful and confident.

DMA argued that "weak people will not be able to handle" the sambal in ayam gepuk, as it is normally very spicy.

Referring to the Americano — which he misspelt as "Amecano" — he said that "only children drink" Spanish latte.

While Spanish latte is known to be a sweeter drink, he did not elaborate on why he chose to compare the two.

DMA's post, which has garnered 691 likes at the time of writing, also induced various reactions from users online.

One user jokingly remarked that "only gays know what gays eat".

Another ridiculed him, saying that he is "too stupid to be entertained".

One user dismissed his list and said that the foods will be consumed "as long as it's Halal, whether it's gay or not".
