10,393 students, or 94.7 per cent, who sat for the 2025 GCE A-Level examinations attained at least three H2 passes.

The 2025 cohort, the first to sit for the GCE A-Levels under the revised computation method of the University Admission Score, had 10,977 candidates.

More interest-driven learning

Under the new system, the fourth content-based subject is included only if it improves the final score calculation.

Project Work is excluded from this computation and is now a pass/fail subject.

The Ministry of Education (MOE) and the Singapore Examination and Assessment Board (SEAB) said in a joint press release on Feb. 27 that the changes were introduced to give students "greater agency" in calibrating their learning load.

It is also meant to encourage students to pursue their learning interests without being overly concerned about grades, MOE and SEAB added.

MOE and SEAB also said they have received encouraging feedback, with some students indicating reduced test anxiety over the fourth subject.

A larger proportion of students were also able to pursue H3 subjects in 2025 compared to 2024, and more students participated in Science Research Enrichment programmes.

"These trends," MOE and SEAB said, "indicate a shift towards interest-driven learning."

University and polytechnic applications

Students who wish to apply to autonomous universities and for scholarships may do so online, and there is no need to submit a hard copy of their GCE A-Level certificates.

More details can be found on the respective autonomous university websites.

Eligible GCE A-Level graduates looking to further their studies at polytechnics can also benefit from module exemptions in about 130 courses, MOE and SEAB said.

Those wishing to matriculate at a polytechnic in April 2026 may apply directly to polytechnics from Feb. 25 to Mar. 10, 2026.

Those eyeing matriculation in October 2026 may apply in August 2026.

More details can be found on the respective polytechnic's website.
