Former WP chief Low Thia Khiang makes rare public appearance at Sengkang walkabout
Low in Sengkang.
Low Thia Khiang, the former Workers' Party Secretary-General and former Member of Parliament (MP), was spotted at a walkabout in Sengkang on Jan. 11, in a rare public appearance.
According to a post by Sengkang GRC MP and Sengkang Town Council Chair He Ting Ru, the WP team visited the Rivervale and Anchorvale neighbourhoods with copies of "Hammer", the party's newsletter.
Many WP leaders were present, including Secretary-General and Leader of the Opposition Pritam Singh and party Chair Sylvia Lim, both from Aljunied GRC.
The walkabout group also included the Sengkang team and GE2025 alumni, with WP candidates for Punggol GRC, Harpreet Singh, Siti Alia Mattar and Alexis Dang, as well as Tampines GRC candidates Michael Thng and Jimmy Tan and East Coast GRC candidate Paris V Parameswari.
In the group photo shared by He, Low was standing between herself and Singh.

Low has generally kept a low profile since leaving parliamentary politics.
In April 2025, he made an appearance at a walkabout, also in Sengkang, a day after Nomination Day.
He also appeared at the final WP rally of the election at Anderson Serangoon JC.
Low did turn up (in casual wear) for the All God's Birthday celebration at Kaki Bukit on Jan. 7, with new Aljunied GRC MP Fadli Fawzi.

WP's Singh faces a challenge in the upcoming Parliamentary sitting of January 2026, with a parliamentary motion filed by Leader of the House Indranee Rajah to debate his continued suitability for the role of the Leader of the Opposition.
Noting his court conviction in the Raeesah Khan case, and the findings of the Committee of Privileges (COP), it expresses regret at Singh's conduct, which it calls "dishonourable and unbecoming of a Member of Parliament."
The Leader of the Opposition is a "parliamentary leadership position carrying important responsibilities, duties and privileges", the motion read. "His continuation in this role would undermine the standing of Parliament and public confidence in the integrity of Singapore’s political system."
The motion also noted that the court outcome and COP findings have implications for Sylvia Lim and WP Vice-Chair Faisal Manap and called on this to be considered separately.
Faisal Manap is no longer an MP, having moved out of Aljunied to stand in Tampines in GE2025, in a losing effort.
At the party level, the Central Executive Committee has directed a disciplinary panel to be formed to determine if Singh had contravened the party's constitution.
