Volunteers spend 6 hours cleaning Yishun flat that had over 200 cockroaches
Cluttered and infested.
More than 50 volunteers spent six hours cleaning a home in Yishun infested with over 200 cockroaches and cluttered with trash.
Shin Min Daily News reported that the 75-year-old Yishun resident was previously hit by a bicycle when crossing the road at a junction near her home on Nov. 22, 2025.
At the time of the incident, the woman did not have her phone, so a nurse helped her call an ambulance to transport her to the hospital.
A few days ago, a social worker followed the woman home to help her find her phone, Shin Min Daily News reported.
Upon reaching her unit, the social worker was shocked by the amount of clutter.
The social worker then contacted an organisation to help clean up her unit.
Six hours
On Jan. 11, charity organisation AMKSS Social Move shared that earlier that day, volunteers gathered to help declutter, clean, and repaint the entire unit.
In the pictures shared on Facebook, bags of clutter were strewn throughout the flat, and items piled in the corner reached the ceiling.

Speaking to Shin Min Daily News, the woman said she was "very grateful" that someone had offered to help tidy her house.
AMKSS Social Move's founder told the Chinese media that the social worker had contacted him to help clean the unit.
He said the woman's flat condition was so bad that they would not allow her to go home.
The founder also shared that there were more than 200 cockroaches in the home, some of which had gathered in the corner of the ceiling.
"Some cockroaches flew into the neighbour's house, and the neighbour immediately closed the window when he saw it," he added.
AMKSS Social Move said on Facebook that the woman has since been discharged from the hospital and has returned home.
